Shark Tank India Judge Anupam Mittal cancels Tesla purchase after losing blue tick on Twitter

Anupam Mittal, the founder of Shaadi.com and Shark Judge, is one of the many high-profile individuals who have lost their blue checkmark on Twitter. This is because Twitter recently removed the legacy verified blue checkmarks from accounts nearly a month after announcing that users will have to buy a Twitter Blue subscription to retain the coveted tick.

Mittal expressed his displeasure with the move and took a jibe at Elon Musk saying that he would now cancel his plans to buy a Tesla.

''Am canceling my planned purchase of a Tesla … ticked off,'' he said in a tweet.



To this Anupam Mittal faced a mixed response on Twitter. Some users suggested him to pay the monthly fee for the verification badge, others accused him of hypocrisy, as his own platform charges a premium for similar services.

Lately, Elon Musk restored the badge for users with over a million followers and even said he was personally paying for some celebrities' Twitter Blue subscriptions to retain their checkmarks. The company's new policy requires users to pay $8 per month for the badge.

Many high-profile individuals including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Alia Bhatt, and politicians like CM Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, and cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma also lost their verified blue ticks from their Twitter accounts.
