At least three people were killed after a gantry crane being used for the construction of a flyover on the Jewar Expressway connecting Faridabad collapsed onto a makeshift shelter at a construction site in Haryana's Faridabad on Thursday, police told ANI.

One worker was rescued with serious injuries, while rescue operations continued to locate and reach others believed to be trapped beneath the collapsed structure.

Accident occurred near Panhera Khurd village

According to Faridabad Police public relations officer Yashpal Yadav, the incident took place between 1.30 pm and 2 pm near Panhera Khurd village under the jurisdiction of Chhainsa police station.

Police received information about the accident at around 3 pm, following which rescue teams equipped with cutting tools were dispatched to the site.

He added that operations were continuing to cut through or lift sections of the collapsed crane and the damaged container structure to reach those still trapped.
