Haryana bus accident: 6 students dead, over 20 injured as school bus overturns in Mahendragarh

Haryana bus accident: In Haryana's Mahendragarh, a tragic incident occurred on Thursday resulting in the death of six school children and injuries to approximately 20 others when their bus was involved in an accident. According to the initial the bus overturned while overtaking a vehicle in Kanina town.

Superintendent of Police, Mahendragarh, Arsh Verma told PTI over the phone that the driver of the bus had been arrested.



Asked about reports suggesting that the driver was drunk, he said, "We have apprehended him and his medical examination is being conducted after which we will be able to properly establish whether he was actually drunk or not".



"The driver of the bus was driving at a high speed due to which the vehicle overturned. We are investing why the school was open on a holiday (on the occasion of Eid). We will get the medical done of the driver to ascertain whether he was drunk. Strict action will be taken against those responsible for the accident," said Kanina DSP Mohinder Singh.

The injured children were rushed to a hospital, Police said.

Haryana's Education Minister Seema Trikha has left for Mahendragarh, officials said.
