Multiple engineering colleges in Bengaluru, including Bengaluru Institute of Technology, BMS College of Engineering, both in Basavanagudi and MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Sadashivanagar received bomb threats on Friday.

Bengaluru South DCP said that bomb disposal squad and related squads were on the job to verify. A case has been registered in Hanumanthnagar Police Station to trace the source.

Soon, the college managements informed the police, who reached the spot with bomb disposal and dog squads. After thorough investigation, police arrived at a conclusion that it was a hoax email.


As soon as the parents got to know about the matter, they gathered in front of the colleges to enquire about the safety of their children.

The Taj West End hotel in the city had received bomb threats in the previous week.

Earlier today, several schools in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, received bomb threats on Friday through email for the second day in a row.
