Sedated, tied up, robbed: Sacked IAS trainee Puja Khedkar alleges domestic help orchestrated bizarre theft; Police probe underway

Pune police have launched an inquiry after former IAS probationer Puja Khedkar reported that a domestic worker allegedly sedated her and her parents before fleeing with valuables, TOI has reported.

How the Alleged Incident Unfolded

According to police, Khedkar contacted authorities late on Saturday night to report the incident at her family’s bungalow on Baner Road, as per PTI.

She claimed that a recently employed domestic help, reportedly from Nepal, mixed sedatives into food or drinks, rendering her and her parents, Dilip and Manorama Khedkar, unconscious.


The family alleged that the accused then tied them up and escaped with mobile phones and other valuables. Khedkar reportedly managed to free herself later and contacted the police using another phone.

Investigation Status

Officials have stated that the incident has been reported verbally, and no written complaint has been submitted so far. Details of the stolen items are yet to be formally provided. Despite this, a preliminary investigation has been initiated.

Family’s Previous Media Attention

This is not the first time the Khedkar family has been in the news. Last year, police registered a case against Dilip and Manorama Khedkar over the alleged abduction of a truck driver following a road rage incident in Navi Mumbai.

Puja Khedkar herself is facing allegations of misrepresentation in her 2022 UPSC civil services examination application, related to claiming reservation benefits. She has denied all accusations.
