A hoax bomb call at Patna airport on Wednesday sent staffers and security personnel into a tizzy.

The call was reportedly made at a landline number of the airport. The caller claimed to have planted a bomb in the premises of the Jayprakash Narayan International Airport, reports said.

Following the call, security was quickly beefed up. "As the information was non-specific, the entire terminal building, parking area and office building was scanned by security forces but no bomb was found," an airport official said.

It turned out to be a hoax call and nothing was found even after extensive search, PTI reported quoting Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra.

"The entire area was scanned thoroughly but no suspicious object was found. The search operation was carried out without inconveniencing the passengers. The matter is being investigated further," Mishra was quoted as saying.
