The Odisha government deployed a medical team to Pallahara in Angul district after scrub typhus cases were detected, officials said.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has sent a medical team to Pallahara block of Angul district following detection of scrub typhus cases, officials said. During last few days, 29 people in Sanbagdhari village reportedly tested positive for scrub typhus on rapid kit tests, which are not confirmatory. Following the report, a medical team from Angul visited Sanbagdhari and conducted door-to-door surveys to identify suspected cases. Scrub typhus is an infectious bacterial disease transmitted through bites of infected larval mites.
