‘Scepticism to confidence’: Vaishnaw sets big Semiconductor target; launches Semicon 2.0 portal

Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has outlined India's next big semiconductor ambitions with the launch of the Semicon 2.0 portal for pillars 2, 3 and 4. Vaishnaw said India will measure the programme's success by its ability to attract at least three major equipment manufacturers and five large material manufacturers to the country. He also highlighted the approval of 118 electronics component manufacturing units, saying several will be capable of meeting India's domestic requirements and exporting products. Vaishnaw said India is moving from scepticism to confidence in its semiconductor journey.
