SC wants care extended to all kids who lost parents during Covid-19
The Supreme Court suggested on Tuesday that the PM-Cares for Children scheme be extended to all children in the country who have been orphaned since March 2020, instead of covering just those children who lost their parents to Covid-19.

A led by Justice L Nageswara Rao has been dealing with the issue suo motu. The other judge on the bench is Justice Aniruddha Bose. The bench had passed an order on June 7, asking the government to take care of those who had lost their parents since 2020. The government had then announced a scheme which would cover children who had lost their parents to Covid-19.
On Tuesday, Justice Rao said “take care of all children who have lost parents due to Covid or not”. “The order that we passed covers all children who have become orphans during this period and not just due to deaths due to Covid,” he said.
