New Delhi: The Supreme Court is proposing to commence live streaming of all its hearings. As a test format, proceedings of all benches of the Supreme Court were streamed live on Friday.

The streaming was done on the court's own application instead of its official YouTube channel. An app to facilitate live streaming of all hearings is in the testing phase, said people in the know.

Until now, only Constitution bench matters and hearings of public importance were live-streamed. In a landmark judgment passed in 2018, SC had set the ball rolling for virtual access to courtroom proceedings. The court had issued directions for live streaming of cases of constitutional and national importance.
