SC seeks Parambir's whereabouts; Denies relief to Anil Deshmukh

While Deshmukh is facing money laundering charges, Singh is untraceable. Deshmukh has denied the corruption charges levelled against him by Singh.

Singh, who was removed as commissioner after a security scare near the Ambani residence in Mumbai, has been declared a proclaimed offender by a Mumbai local court.
The Supreme Court on Thursday sought to know the whereabouts of former Mumbai Police commissioner Parambir Singh before granting him any relief. The court also denied any relief to former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, who had quit a day after the Bombay HC referred the allegations levelled by Singh against him to the CBI.

Singh created a furore when he alleged that Deshmukh had asked senior police officials to extort 'astounding sums of money from the bars and hotels' in Mumbai. While Deshmukh is facing money laundering charges, Singh is untraceable. Deshmukh has denied the corruption charges levelled against him by Singh. The ED is, however, probing the charges.

Singh, who was removed as commissioner after a security scare near the Ambani residence in Mumbai, has been declared a proclaimed offender by a Mumbai local court. The state government has since withheld his salary and initiated the suspension process.


Deshmukh had moved the SC seeking relief against the CBI, which had sought an FIR despite the PE not throwing up anything against him.

While refusing any relief to Singh, the bench observed: "Where are you? In India or outside?"
