The Supreme Court on Tuesday recalled its May 16 judgment that had struck down the Centre's decision to grant retrospective clearances to projects found in violation of environmental norms.

Justice Bhuyan disagreed with Chief Justice of India Gavai and Justice Chandran in recalling the May judgment, which had nixed govt’s office memoranda that enabled post-facto EC.

Supreme Court in May had restrained the Centre from granting retrospective environmental clearance to mining and other development projects and quashed the 2017 notification and 2021 office memorandum regarding the same.
