The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea seeking review of its April 26 ruling vide which it had rejected a slew of petitions seeking directions to tally voter-verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) slips with votes cast through EVMs during the Lok Sabha polls.

A division bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna ruled that no case for review of its ruling was made out. "We have carefully perused the review petition, as also the grounds in support thereof. In our opinion, no case for review of the judgment dated April 26 is made out," the bench said while dismissing the review plea.

On April 26, dismissing the petitions, a division bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta also described the demand of the petitioners to return to the ballot paper system as "foible, regressive and unsound."
