According to officials, the Supreme Court collegium led by Chief Justice U U Lalit has approved the appointment of 20 judges to high courts in Punjab and Haryana, Bombay and Karnataka. In a committee meeting on Monday, the collegium approved the plan to appoint nine judicial officers as judges to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

According to a statement posted on the apex court's website, the collegium also approved the nomination of two advocates to the Bombay High Court as judges.

Similarly, on September 7, it approved the elevation of six judicial officers to the Bombay High Court as judges. At the September 7 meeting, it was also decided to appoint three additional judges to the Karnataka High Court as permanent judges.


The Supreme Court approved the nomination of judicial officers to the Punjab and Haryana High Court, including Gurbir Singh, Deepak Gupta, Amarjot Bhatti, Ritu Tagore, Manisha Batra, Harpreet Kaur Jeewan, Sukhvinder Kaur, Sanjiv Berry, and Vikram Aggarwal.

It also approved the appointment of judicial officers Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh, Yanshivraj Gopichand Khobragade, Mahendra Wadhumal Chandwani, Abhay Sopanrao Waghwase, Ravindra Madhusudan Joshi, and Vrushali @ Shubhangi Vijay Joshi, as well as advocates Santosh Govindrao Chapalgaonkar and Milind Manohar Sathaye as judges

"The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting held on September 7, 2022 has approved the proposal for appointment of the following Additional Judges as Permanent Judges in the Karnataka High Court: Justice Mohammed Ghouse Shukure Kamal, Justice Rajendra Badamikar, and Justice Khazi Jayabunnisa Mohiuddin," the resolution stated.
