New Delhi: State Bank of India chairman CS Setty, Apple India MD Virat Bhatia, and Mahindra & Mahindra MD Anish Shah are among 29 non-official members nominated by the government to the Board of Trade, chaired by commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal.

The board comprises participants from states, union territories, and senior officials from public and private sectors. It provides a platform to discuss ways on boosting manufacturing and exports.

In a notification Tuesday, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said these members would act as facilitators in the implementation of district export hub events, including sensitisation workshops, identification, and promotion of identified products, and help state governments develop and pursue export strategies in line with the National Foreign Trade Policy.

They will also advise the Centre on policy measures for the preparation and implementation of both short and long-term plans for increasing exports. The members will also review the export performance of various sectors, identify constraints, and suggest industry-specific measures to optimise export earnings.
