In the Assam assembly, Speaker Biswajit Daimary refused to allow adjournment motion moved by Congress MLA Nurul Huda on alleged encroachment by Meghalaya.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma met PM Modi in New Delhi on Monday in the wake of violent clashes along the Assam-Mizoram border on July 26. Sarma also met Union home minister Amit Shah, who is likely to meet both Sarma and Mizoram CM Zoramthanga together. At present, Zoramthanga is in quarantine.

In the Assam assembly, Speaker Biswajit Daimary refused to allow adjournment motion moved by Congress MLA Nurul Huda on alleged encroachment by Meghalaya. Following this, the Congress, All India United Democratic Front and CPM MLAs, and an independent legislator staged a walkout. The opposition alleged that Sarma had discussed border issues with Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma on August 6, but the House hasn’t been informed about it.
