Sandeshkhali case: Calcutta HC orders court monitored CBI enquiry
The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday ordered a CBI probe into the alleged crimes against women, forcible land-grab in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali.

The HC, which will monitor the probe, has directed CBI to file report on illegal conversion of agricultural land for pisciculture.

The case came into light when a team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials were assaulted by villagers when they went there conduct a raid at the residence of former Trinamool Congress leader Shajahan Sheikh. The raid was to be conducted in relation to the alleged ration distribution scam in West Bengal.


Allegations of sexual atrocities on women and land grabs were levelled against local leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress at Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district recently.
