Same-sex marriage: SC constitutes five-judge bench to hear the plea on April 18

Same-Sex Marriage Case: The Supreme Court on Monday directed that the petitions seeking recognition of same-sex marriage will be heard by five judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court. The next hearing has been scheduled on April 18, 2023.The Indian government opposes recognising same-sex marriages, it said in a filing to the Supreme Court on Sunday, urging the court to reject challenges to the current legal framework lodged by LGBT couples.
