More than eight months after a shocking firing incident outside Salman Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai, the Bollywood actor has implemented substantial security enhancements. The measures include bulletproof windows, a high-tech security system, and high-resolution CCTV cameras to monitor any suspicious activity. Additionally, bulletproof glass has been installed to fortify the balcony from which Khan greets his fans. The actor lives in a one-bedroom flat on the ground floor of the building, while his parents reside on the first floor.

April 2024 Shooting: The Immediate Trigger

On April 14, 2024, two unidentified assailants on motorcycles fired four rounds at Khan’s residence before fleeing. In a statement to the police, Khan alleged that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi orchestrated the attack, stating the intent was to harm him and his family. Bishnoi, currently imprisoned, has a long-standing feud with the actor stemming from the 1998 Blackbuck hunting case. The Bishnoi community reveres Blackbucks as sacred, and Bishnoi himself has publicly declared his hostility towards Khan, saying, “We will not forgive him.”

Escalating Threats and Siddique’s Murder

The April attack marked a serious escalation in threats against Khan, who has been targeted multiple times over the years. In October 2024, former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, a close associate of Khan, was shot dead in Mumbai. Investigators revealed that Siddique’s relationship with Khan was a key motive behind the murder. Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the April shooting in a Facebook post and was later implicated in Siddique’s killing. Anmol has since been detained in the United States.

Additional Threats from the Bishnoi Gang

The threats continued to escalate, with the Mumbai Traffic Police receiving a chilling message demanding Rs 5 crore as “forgiveness” money for Khan. The message warned that failure to comply would result in a fate “worse than Baba Siddique.” This added to the urgency for heightened security measures at Khan’s home and work locations.

Enhanced Security Measures

In response, Khan has acquired a bulletproof Nissan Patrol SUV worth approximately Rs 2 crore, imported directly from Dubai. His personal security team has been reinforced with an additional eight to ten armed personnel. Mumbai Police have also set up a specialised command centre at his residence. Similar measures have been adopted at the sets of “Bigg Boss 18” in Mumbai’s Film City, where Khan is the host. These precautions aim to address the increased risks to the actor’s safety.

The roots of this hostility trace back to the 1998 Blackbuck hunting case, where Khan was convicted of killing a Blackbuck during a film shoot in Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community considers these animals sacred, and the incident sparked widespread resentment. Lawrence Bishnoi, a member of this community, has since issued repeated threats against Khan, stating that he would exact revenge for the perceived insult to their beliefs.

Despite the heightened security concerns, Salman Khan remains focused on his professional commitments. He is preparing for the release of his upcoming film, “Sikandar,” directed by Sajid Nadiadwala and AR Murugadoss. The film, set to release during Eid 2025, boasts an impressive cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Prateik Babbar, Sharman Joshi, and Kajal Aggarwal.
