Saif Ali Khan survives 6 stab injuries as Mumbai grapples with violence

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was brutally attacked by an intruder while trying to stop a robbery attempt at his flat in Bandra on Thursday morning. The actor and two members of his staff who got injured in the incident are reportedly stable now.

The Mumbai police, which is investigating the case, has created numerous squads to find the culprit. Initially, they suspect robbery, but they are investigating if this is an insider job, with someone supplying information on the layout of the building or the actor's apartment, or assisting his admission into a highly protected building.

"The preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused entered the building by jumping the shared boundary wall of the neighbouring dilapidated building, managed to secure an entry and entered the actor's duplex located on the 11th and 12th floor', said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.

"While robbery seems to be the motive, an insider's job isn't ruled out and the probe will ascertain if the accused was assisted by somebody to secure entry ," added the official.


According to the FIR accessed by ET, Aliyama Philip , who has been working as a staff nurse for the younger son of actors, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor-Khan, is the complainant has stated that the incident happened inside the actor's duplex apartment at Sadguru Sadan on the 12th floor. According to the complaint, around 11pm on Wednesday, after putting the kid to sleep, the nurse and the caretaker also retired for the day.

Around 2 am on Thursday, she suddenly woke up after hearing some noise. "...I saw that the bathroom door was ajar and the lights were also switched on. However, I assumed that Kareena madam could have entered the room to check on the baby and therefore I again went back to sleep," the FIR states.

However, the nurse thought something was amiss and woke up again only to see a shadowy figure with a 'cap'. While she was trying to ascertain the identity of the person, the accused walked into the room and tried walking toward the kid's bed . While the nurse was trying to fetch the toddler from the bed, the accused shushed her and said 'no noise'. By now, the maid woke up too. The accused allegedly threatened the two by saying not to make any noise and nobody will leave the bedroom. 'koi aawaz nahi aur koi bahar nahi jayega' (don't make any noise and nobody will step out of the room)," the FIR read.


When the maid tried to pick up the child, she saw the accused was armed with a 'wooden object and 'hacksaw blade in his right hand. A scuffle ensued and the nurse was attacked with the blade by the accused . "...'paisa chaiye' (I need money). When the complainant asked for the amount, the accused said 'one crore' in English," the FIR further adds.

In the meantime., the nanny ran out of the room and cried aloud for help. Hearing her commotion both the actors rushed to the kid's bedroom . When Saif Ali Khan intervened and asked the accused what he wanted, he attacked the actor. The nanny intervened and she too was attacked. Saif somehow managed to push the accused and locked him inside the bedroom. Hearing the commotion, the other staff employed by the actors also rushed in and they inspected the home to see if the accused was still hiding or lurking around in the home.

According to the complaint, the actor sustained stab injuries on his neck, right shoulder, back and right hand

The complainant has described the accused to be in his late 30s and is around 5.5 feet tall. The police managed to get his photographs through the CCTV footage which captured him fleeing the house using the stairway.
