New Delhi: India and Russia on Thursday decided to widen their partnership, with visiting Russian deputy PM Denis Manturov calling on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here.

Manturov also met NSA Ajit Doval, EAM S Jaishankar and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman amid global supply chain woes following the Iran war. Discussions focused on maintaining Russian supplies of crude, LPG, fertilisers and coal to India, it has been learnt.

A key focus of Manturov's visit was giving shape to the economic cooperation programme agreed during President Vladimir Putin's December visit for the 23rd annual summit. India also hosted Russian deputy foreign minister and a senior parliamentarian in what can be described as a week of intense Indo-Russian diplomacy.
