RSS affiliates on Friday hailed PM Narendra Modi's announcement that the farm laws will be repealed in the upcoming winter session of Parliament. The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh claimed the rollback would be detrimental to long-term farmers' interest while the Swadeshi Jagran Manch called the move well-intentioned but lacked in building consensus among farmers.

For the last one year, the RSS, the parent organisation of BJP, in its most important decision-making meetings held in Delhi, Karnataka and Nagpur had discussed the fallout of the extended farmers' protest on Indian society, and mainly on the farming community. Senior leaders of the RSS, ET has learnt, in their feedback to the government had also suggested an immediate redressal of farmers' protest, particularly after violence in Lakhimpur Kheri claimed seven lives. RSS-affiliate Swadeshi Jagran Manch said by repealing the laws, the government has defeated the "ill intentions of the anti-national and separatist forces." It added that it hopes a new chapter of reforms in agricultural marketing can now begin.
