A senior official of city traffic police last week said that a fine of Rs 10,000 starting this week for not allowing ambulances and fire trucks to pass through. To ensure transparency, zonal officers of the Gurugram traffic police will capture video recordings of such incidents.

DCP Virender Vij emphasized that this measure is crucial, as delays caused by traffic congestion or reckless driving can have dire consequences. "Challaning amount for the offence is Rs 10, 000 under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act. This will help in saving those on the way to different hospitals in ambulances in serious condition. Gurugram traffic police is already providing green corridors for ambulances carrying organs meant for transplant to different hospitals and helping to save the lives of serious patients," DCP Vij was quoted as saying.

Gurugram frequently experiences heavy traffic during peak office hours, making it imperative to address this issue and ensure that emergency vehicles reach their destinations on time. The Gurugram traffic police have already been providing green corridors for ambulances transporting organs for transplant, effectively saving lives.
