Rishi Sunak in India: Taj Mahal visit, cricket at Wankhede & more

Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak visited the Taj Mahal with his wife, Akshata Murty, and signed the visitor book. Expressing his admiration, he wrote, “A truly breathtaking visit. Few places in the world can unite like the Taj Mahal. Our children will never forget seeing this... We are so grateful for the warm hospitality. An unforgettable experience for our whole family. Thank you.”

Akshata Murty also cherished the visit, calling it “A memory for the ages.”

A large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of Rishi Sunak and his family. In response, they warmly waved and greeted the public with folded hands.

During his India visit, Rishi Sunak attended the fifth and final T20I between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium on February 2. Reacting to England’s loss, he remarked, “Tough day for England at the Wankhede, but I know our team will come back stronger. Congratulations to Team India on the win.”

Despite England’s tough day at Wankhede, Rishi Sunak had the opportunity to meet cricket stars Jos Buttler and Suryakumar Yadav before the match, making the experience special.

Earlier that day, Sunak enjoyed a casual game of tennis ball cricket. Sharing his excitement on X, he posted, “No trip to Mumbai would be complete without a game of tennis ball cricket.”

On February 1, Rishi Sunak attended the Jaipur Literature Festival along with his wife Akshata Murty and her parents, Sudha Murthy and Narayan Murthy. Rishi Sunak served as the UK Prime Minister from October 2022 to July 2024.
