RIL announces financial support for families of employees who died of Covid

In a letter to employees, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani and wife Neeta Ambani said that the company, India’s biggest by value, will honour the promise of “one Reliance family” by supporting them.
“Even though these times may seem very bleak, always remember that you are not alone and the entire institution of Reliance stands with each one of you and your family,” read the letter written jointly by the Ambanis.
Reliance will fund the tuition, books and hostel accommodation expenses for all children of the deceased employees until they complete their graduation at any institute in India. RIL will additionally bear 100% insurance premium tariffs for hospitalisation coverage of the deceased employee’s spouse, parents, and children until graduation.
Separately, employees suffering from Covid-19, or caring for a family member can go on special leave for the full duration of their recovery – both emotional and physical.

“Let us not give up on that fighting spirit, because surely there are better days ahead for all of us,” the letter from the Ambanis said.
Companies such as Tata Steel, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra and Larsen & Toubro have lately announced measures to support the families of employees that lost their lives to the virus.
Glassware maker Borosil was among the first to announce financial support measures for its employees dying of Covid. The support included two years of salary payments and financing of the education of their children until graduation.
