RG Kar rape and murder case: West Bengal Junior Doctor's Front to meet state CM Mamata Banerjee on Monday
The West Bengal Junior Doctor's Front (WBJDF) is set to meet Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna without withdrawing their ongoing hunger strike, despite the state government's condition that the strike must end for the meeting to take place...

"We will reach Nabanna tomorrow for the meeting without any preconditions. We will go to the meeting with the Chief Minister but will not withdraw the hunger strike before that. If the resolution is not met tomorrow, the junior doctors will go for further cease work from Tuesday," Debasish Halder, a junior doctor, who is one the leading face of the movement, said after a general body meeting held on Sunday afternoon.
"We have continued the fast unto death. After continuing the hunger strike for 17-days, our co-fighters felt hurt by the telephonic conversation of the Chief Minister. However, we will rthe each Nabanna with our delegation and we don't want to follow any precondition for that. We have made it clear in our email reply to Chief Secretary," Halder said.
"It is very unethical to withdraw the hunger strike first and call a meeting. We have definite protest programmes to follow. I think the state government will continue the meeting in a positive manner with an open mind and keep an eye towards the humanitarian part of the movement," Aniket Mahato, another junior doctor, who was hospitalized for fast-unto death recently.
The WBJDF has sent an email reply to the Chief Secretary Manoj Pant and stated that they still stick to their 10-point demands. Pant, on Saturday evening, has sent an email to WBJDF, spearheading the movement on the rape and murder of PGT doctor of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital on August 9, seeking “withdrawal of the fast-unto-death agitation by a group of junior doctors" as the precondition for the meeting.
In the email, the Chief Secretary has also said that the delegation of junior doctors coming to the meeting will not be more than 10 and not more than 45 minutes would be entertained for the meeting.
Meanwhile, WBJDF today called a Shoutout Protest ("Chitkaar Samabesh") today, telling people about their ten-point demands. A mega rally has also been organized today where people from all walks of lives have joined today evening near a fast-unto-death demonstration dais in Esplanade.
