Congress’ Lok Sabha floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has demanded immediate restoration of MPLADS funds so that MPs can be financially empowered to help Covid-19 and cyclone victims. The Centre had last year suspended the fund citing the Covid-19 pandemic. “While the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has brought unimaginable miseries, the people of Odisha and West Bengal are on the verge of facing the devastating affects of the cyclonic storm Yaas... I would beseech you to take appropriate steps in having the blocked MPLADS funds released and the scheme made operational once again in its true spirit,” Chowdhury wrote to the PM on Thursday.
