Republic Day: Delhi left chilled to the bone, minimum temperature hits 4.7 degrees

The minimum temperature in the capital city on Friday (January 26) was at 4.7 degrees Celsius, the Met Department reported.

Severe cold temperatures left Delhi chilled to the bone on Republic Day during the early hours, even as visibility remained extremely poor as a dense cover of fog kept the city blanketed.

The minimum temperature in the capital city on Friday (January 26) was at 4.7 degrees Celsius, the Met Department reported.

Dense fog was reported at the Indira Gandhi Airport and Safdarjung airport this morning, with visibility at 100 metres and 300 metres, respectively, the weather office said.


The morning was chilly, with the minimum temperature being four notches below the average for this season.

The weather forecast predicts partly cloudy skies throughout the day, with a maximum temperature of 20 degrees Celsius.

The IMD had issued an orange alert for Friday.

Yesterday, Delhi saw a minimum temperature of 4.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below the seasonal average, and a maximum temperature of 20.5 degrees Celsius.
