NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday stayed a case against former Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam (OPS), his wife and in-laws over allegedly having assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

A bench comprising justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti sought the response of the Tamil Nadu Police and the original complainants to an appeal filed by Panneerselvam challenging a Madras High Court decision to restore the case against him.

The high court in October set aside a 2012 order of a lower court that permitted the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to withdraw the 2006 disproportionate assets case against the former CM and his family.
