‘Rectify glitches or halt SIR’: Mamata writes to CEC; BJP asks her to approach Supreme Court
Political tensions escalated in West Bengal after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner flagging alleged irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Responding sharply, BJP leaders defended the Election Commission’s move as constitutional and necessary for a clean voter list, accusing the TMC of making false allegations and politicising the process. The BJP also said legal remedies are available if the state government has objections.
