In a bid to address the persistent issue of traffic congestion in major cities across the state, the Uttar Pradesh government planning to set up a Central Command and Control Centre at the Police Headquarters in Lucknow. As per a TOI report, the center will send notifications to local traffic police officials via Google Maps alerts, providing real-time updates about traffic jams as they occur.

As per a TOI report, Additional DG Traffic, BD Poulsen, said that the construction of this vital center is nearing completion and is on track to be inaugurated in the near future by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The core functionality of this facility revolves around its integration with the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) of major cities grappling with traffic congestion.

One of the key features of this Command and Control Centre is its capability to offer instructions for mitigating traffic congestion. By leveraging the data collected and analyzed from various sources, the center will empower authorities to identify congested routes and timings. This data-driven approach will play a pivotal role in pinpointing the root causes of traffic congestion and implementing effective solutions. The impact is expected to be far-reaching as the system's scope expands to cover additional cities, national highways, and more in subsequent phases.

Simultaneously, the government is exploring modern technological solutions to enhance police communication and operational efficiency. A novel mobile-based application named 'Push-to-Talk over Cellular' (PoC) has been launched for trial and testing in Lucknow. This application is designed to facilitate seamless communication among police personnel, effectively turning mobile phones into wireless sets.
