The patient's attendant notified the patient's physicians that the patient had rat bites on the back of his heel and the fingers of his right hand on Saturday.
A health official stated that the patient, who had previously had surgery at a hospital in Hyderabad, was moved to Kamareddy and placed in the hospital's intensive care unit one week ago while unconscious.
Following the event, an investigation was launched, and a top health official paid the patient and hospital a visit. A memo was then sent to them as one of the steps taking disciplinary action against the people in charge of the purported errors.
Rats were able to get into the intensive care unit (ICU) while the dialysis unit next to it was being refurbished, requiring some hospital deconstruction work, according to an initial investigation. The official stated that another factor contributing to the rodent threat is the improper dumping of food by patient attendants near bedsides and on hospital property. He promised to take steps to prevent similar occurrences.
