Rapido has received a five-year licence from the Karnataka State Transport Authority for its cab services in the state, valid until August 2031, giving the mobility platform a longer-term regulatory framework for its operations in its home market.

The company currently runs cab operations across 21 cities in Karnataka, working with more than 3.14 lakh captains and over 2.04 crore registered customers. According to Rapido, more than 69 lakh customers in the state have taken a cab ride on the platform so far.

Rapido said the licence would strengthen its role in Karnataka's urban transport ecosystem, with an emphasis on safe, reliable and technology-driven mobility. The company has also been included in the state government's Urban Mobility Mission, under which it will collaborate with Karnataka on priorities such as commuter access, urban travel planning, technology integration, safety and service reliability.
Co-founder Pavan Guntupalli said the licence would help the company strengthen its cab business while continuing to work closely with the Karnataka government and its Transport Department. "Karnataka is our home state and one of our most important markets," he said, adding that Rapido remains committed to operating in full compliance with the state's regulatory framework.
Guntupalli added that clear and predictable regulation benefits commuters, captains, platforms and the government alike, and that the company's focus would continue to be on safety, service reliability and ensuring earning opportunities for its captains.
