Addressing a gathering here after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of 101 development projects worth over Rs 570 crore, he said the district has been included in the Lucknow State Capital Region and development of Lucknow would no longer remain confined to areas like Hazratganj.
"Development of Lucknow will now reach Unnao and move towards Kanpur," he said, adding proposals for two more bridges over the Ganga between Unnao and Kanpur had already been approved.
Referring to the rapid rail project connecting Delhi and Meerut, Adityanath said a similar proposal was being prepared for a rapid rail service from Lucknow to Kanpur through Unnao.
He said an outer ring road around the region would connect Lucknow, Unnao, Sitapur, Hardoi, Barabanki and Rae Bareli, creating a large development cluster with equal participation from all areas.
The chief minister said around 700 acres of land had been prepared in Unnao for the Defence Manufacturing Corridor and another industrial cluster, where new industries would come up and create employment opportunities.
He said the government was working on a long-term development plan with world-class infrastructure, keeping the next 100 years in mind.
Adityanath also highlighted the Ganga Expressway, saying it connected Unnao and reflected global standards in road infrastructure.
Uttar Pradesh, he noted, had emerged as a leading state in terms of expressways and airports and mentioned the newly inaugurated Noida International Airport.
He said the credit for development belonged to people who were electing governments with a vision for progress.
Taking a swipe at previous governments, he said some leaders considered only their own region as the state, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi considered the entire country his family.
"My home is Uttar Pradesh and the 25 crore people of the state are my family. Working for their welfare and prosperity is our mission," he said.
The chief minister assured people that development work in Unnao would continue without any interruption and said there would be no shortage of funds for projects.
