In a unique and symbolic gesture, fliers adorned in the attire of Lord Ram and Hanuman graced the Ahmedabad airport this morning, all set to embark on IndiGo's inaugural flight to Ayodhya. The event precedes the highly anticipated consecration ceremony of the Ram temple scheduled for January 22, attracting devotees from various corners of the nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated a new airport last month, emphasizing the government's commitment to connect the sacred city with the world.

The maiden direct flight from Gujarat to Ayodhya left Ahmedabad today, with four passengers donning the roles of Lord Ram, Lakshman, Sita, and Hanuman. IndiGo had commenced flights to Ayodhya from Delhi on January 6, coinciding with the operationalization of the new airport. Furthermore, the airline plans to introduce direct flights from Mumbai in the coming weeks, according to a statement by a senior airline official.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath received the boarding pass for the inaugural tri-weekly flights connecting Ahmedabad and Ayodhya. Adityanath mentioned that approximately 100 chartered planes are expected at Ayodhya airport on January 22 for the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of the Ram Temple, assessing the airport's potential.


Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing Uttar Pradesh with its fourth international airport, Adityanath highlighted the inauguration of Ayodhya airport on December 30. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister VK Singh, and other officials launched the first tri-weekly flights on Thursday.

With the grand opening of the Ram temple just around the corner, Ayodhya is poised to welcome a massive influx of devotees. In anticipation of the heightened activity, the Home ministry has sanctioned a team of over 150 central security personnel to ensure the security of the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport.
