Ram Mandir Inauguration: Grand ceremony to mark historic moment with celebrations worldwide

In a highly anticipated event, the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya is set to take place on Monday in a grand ceremony. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the "Pran Pratishtha" ceremony, which commences at 12:20 pm and concludes by 1 pm. Following the rituals, the shrine will be open to the public from the next day.

Global Celebrations

Lakhs of viewers are anticipated to witness the event through TV and online platforms, as various countries plan special festivities on January 22. Organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Hindu diaspora groups, events are scheduled in cities like Washington DC, Paris, and Sydney.


Yajmaans and Rituals

Fourteen couples from different parts of India will serve as hosts for the "Pran Pratishtha." The rituals leading up to the consecration began on January 16 and will conclude on January 21. The 51-inch idol of Ram Lalla, sculpted by Arun Yogiraj, has been placed in the temple's sanctum sanctorum.

Temple Architecture

The new temple, constructed in the traditional Nagara style, will be an impressive structure, measuring 380 feet long, 250 feet wide, and 161 feet high. It will feature three stories, with each floor being 20 feet high, adorned with 392 pillars and 44 gates.

Elaborate Security Measures

The government has implemented comprehensive security measures for the event, with police personnel deployed across the city. Movable barriers with barbed wires can be seen at prominent crossroads, ensuring smooth traffic regulation, especially during VVIP movements. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams are on standby for emergencies.

Health Precautions

Preparations include arrangements for potential health emergencies, with beds reserved at local hospitals. Specialized training from AIIMS has been provided to doctors, ensuring a focused emergency response.

Decorations and Festivities

Ayodhya is adorned with flowers and lights, creating a festive atmosphere. Streets are lit with artwork depicting Lord Ram, and slogans like "Ayodhya Rammay ho raha hai" echo through the city. Cultural events, Ramlilas, and Bhagwat Kathas are ongoing at various venues.

Diverse Offerings

Gifts from across the country are pouring in, ranging from Lord Ram image-adorned bangles to traditional items like a 500-kg iron-copper "nagada" and the "Onavillu" bow. The list includes special perfumes from Kannauj, "kumkum" leaves from Amravati, and grains collected at a Ram temple in Delhi.

Global Participation

Prominent figures, including Amitabh Bachchan, Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Sachin Tendulkar, are among the 7,000 invitees. Despite opposition leaders declining the invitation, individuals from various backgrounds are heading to Ayodhya in unique ways, demonstrating their faith in Lord Ram.

Historic Context

The consecration ceremony marks a significant milestone after the 2019 Supreme Court judgment on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit. The construction of the temple follows years of legal battles, culminating in the Supreme Court's decision in favor of the Hindu litigants who argued that the Babri Mosque was built on the site of Lord Ram's birthplace.
