The SIT's report on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident gave the Opposition fresh ammunition in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday as it demanded the resignation of junior home minister Ajay Mishra 'Teni' and continued its protest over the suspension of 12 members. This led to frequent disruptions and no Bill was passed.

Deputy leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma and former union minister P Chidambaram had given a notice for termination of the suspension citing proviso in Rule 256(2) that deals with the issue. But chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said he has not received any such notice. As the Opposition continued its protest, the House was adjourned.

Later, Naidu told Sharad Pawar and Mallikarjun Kharge in his chamber he can do little in the matter and urged them to pursue it with the government.
