Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma ordered that his sentence be suspended till March 18 after noting that Rs 1.5 crore had been deposited in the bank account of the complainant, M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd.
The actor has been directed to furnish a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh along with one surety of the same amount. He must also surrender his passport, not leave the country without prior permission, and remain present—physically or virtually—on the next date of hearing.
Yadav had sought suspension of his sentence citing a family wedding scheduled for February 19.
Meanwhile, he will remain out of custody until March 18, when the case is scheduled to be heard again.
A case marked by missed deadlines
The relief follows a series of stern observations by the court over repeated delays in clearing dues. The Phir Hera Pheri actor had surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5, 2026, to serve a six-month sentence after the High Court refused to grant him additional time to pay.
The proceedings arise from revision petitions filed by Yadav and his wife challenging a 2019 sessions court order that upheld their conviction by a magisterial court in April 2018. The trial court had sentenced him to six months’ imprisonment in multiple cheque dishonour cases.
Earlier this month, while directing him to surrender, the High Court had said his conduct “deserved to be deprecated” as he had repeatedly breached undertakings to repay the complainant.
The court noted that he was required to pay Rs 1.35 crore in each of the seven cases against him. It also recorded that two demand drafts of Rs 75 lakh were deposited in October 2025, but around Rs 9 crore remained payable.
In June 2024, the High Court had temporarily suspended his conviction to allow an amicable settlement, after his counsel argued that the dispute arose from financing a film project that failed at the box office. However, when payments were not made as promised, that relief was withdrawn.
The latest suspension of sentence comes after the Rs 1.5 crore deposit, offering Yadav temporary respite while the matter continues before the court.
