Rajeev Gowda appointed vice chair at Karnataka's Niti Aayog SITK

On his new position that comes with a Cabinet minister’s rank, Gowda said this was a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the creation of a unique Karnataka Model of Development under the leadership of the CM and Dy CM.

The State Government has appointed Congress leader and former Rajya Sabha member MV Rajeev Gowda as Vice Chairman of the State Institute for the Transformation of Karnataka (SITK), the state’s own Niti Aayog which replaces the State Planning Board.

On his new position that comes with a Cabinet minister’s rank, Gowda said this was a wonderful opportunity to contribute to the creation of a unique Karnataka Model of Development under the leadership of the CM and Dy CM.

SITK’s (sitkgok.com) mandate is to formulate policy strategy and evaluate programme outcomes. It works with multiple departments to promote Karnataka’s socio-economic development.


Gowda is currently the chairman of AICC’s Research Department. He was also the convener of the Congress party’s Manifesto Committee for the 2019 election.

He was earlier the Chairperson at the Centre for Public Policy and Professor of Economics and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. He has served as a Director on the Central Board of the Reserve Bank of India.
