A 22-year-old man accused of spying for Pakistan has been arrested by Rajasthan police's intel wing, TOI reported on October 30.

Narendra Kumar had divulged critical information regarding the Bikaner border area to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), police alleged.

The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), S Sengathir, stated that the intelligence unit consistently monitors ISI activities along the borders. During this surveillance, it was discovered that Narendra Kumar, aged 22, was in constant communication with two female agents of the Pakistani spy agency through social media and had allegedly fallen victim to a honeytrap.

Kumar, employed as a motorcycle mechanic and residing in Anandgarh Khajuwala near the Indo-Pakistan international border in Bikaner, was swiftly apprehended and transported to the Joint Interrogation Centre in Jaipur on Saturday. In the course of questioning, he disclosed that he had connected with a Facebook account operated by an individual named "Poonam Bajwa" and another by "Sunita" approximately two years ago.

"Poonam," purportedly residing in Bathinda, Punjab, and claiming to be a data entry operator with the Border Security Force (BSF), allegedly befriended Kumar, enticing him to share sensitive border area information under the pretext of marriage. Poonam provided Kumar with a WhatsApp number, requesting details on Indian territory along the international border, including roads, bridges, BSF posts, towers, photographs of army vehicles, and images or videos of restricted locations, all of which he reportedly provided.

The second woman, Sunita, posed as a local journalist from a national newspaper and also sought sensitive information from Kumar. He admitted to sharing such information with Sunita. Subsequently, following a technical examination of Kumar's mobile phone, a case was promptly filed against him under the Official Secrets Act of 1923, leading to his arrest.
