Rajasthan will go into a strict lockdown from May 10 to May 24, the state government has announced.

Restrictions will come into force at 5 am on May 10, and will continue till 5 am of May 24. Only essential services will be allowed during this period, the govt said.

The decision comes amid rapidly rising coronavirus cases in the state. A number of other states have already gone in for similar lockdown to curb the spread of the virus.

Intra-state travel — between districts, cities and villages — will be prohibited.

For people entering the state from other states, negative RT-PCR test report will be compulsory. Anyone who fails to produce a negative report will be quarantined for 15 days.

Marriages as well as any event associated with weddings will only be permitted after May 31, the order said. Court marriages, however, will be allowed. Small-scale home weddings "with not more than 11 attendants" will also be permitted.
