The IMD on Tuesday forecast thunderstorms and rain across West Bengal till May 8, with possibility of heavy precipitation in the sub-Himalayan districts.

In view of favourable wind pattern and strong moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal, thunderstorms and rain are likely to occur in most districts of the state over the next three days, the India Meteorological Department said in a bulletin.

Heavy rainfall is likely in the sub-Himalayan districts of Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar till May 6, it said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be below normal owing to the weather conditions.

The Met forecast a cloudy sky with possibility of thunderstorms and light to moderate rain in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The metropolis recorded a minimum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.
