IMD scientist Akhil Srivastava said on Friday that southern states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka will get regular rain, thunder, and strong winds during this time. He also said that Central India would have similar weather conditions.
"The Northeast will also continue to get rain for the next five days," he added. As for Northwest India, thunderstorms are expected, but heatwave conditions will also remain in some areas.
In Eastern India, especially Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, the weather will stay hot and humid.
Delhi to See Rain, Drop in Temperature
People in Delhi might get a little relief from the heat."We expect thunderstorm activity in the evening today and tomorrow," Srivastava said on Friday. "There may be some light rainfall, and because of that, the temperature might drop to around 37–39°C."
This comes as parts of North India continue to face intense heatwaves.
Heat Brings More Patients to Hospitals in Uttar Pradesh
In Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, rising temperatures have led to more people, especially children, being taken to hospitals.Dr. V Singh, a senior medical consultant, said many children are showing signs of typhoid, fever, loose motion, cold, and cough.
He advised people to avoid eating food from outside. "Street food is often mixed with unsafe ingredients. It’s best to stay away from it," he said. "About 200 patients come in daily, and 25–30 children are being admitted."
Dr. Rajendra from ACMS District Hospital added that cases of vomiting and diarrhoea are also going up. "Every day, about 2200–2500 people visit the OPD, and 90–100 patients get admitted," he shared. "It’s hot, but so far, things are under control."
