This announcement comes after it the announcement of Putin’s China trip. During his India trip, Putin is expected to meet PM Narendra Modi. This will be Putin’s second trip to India in less than one year, last being annual summit in December 2025.
Meanwhile, Modi has confirmed that he will visit Moscow later this year, according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The occasion will be the next edition of the annual summit.
Last Thursday Lavrov called on Modi and discussed a broad bilateral agenda. He was on a three‑day visit to New Delhi to attend the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has confirmed that this year it is his turn to pay a visit to the Russian Federation. We will be preparing for this meeting,” Lavrov said last Friday.
During his bilateral interactions in New Delhi, the Russian foreign minister discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in trade, economy and investment “in such a way that we don’t depend on the negative, unfriendly pressure from third party countries,” Lavrov had stated. Russia has assured India to continue supplies of crude, fertilizers, coking coal and other energy products.
