Describing the scheme as a major step towards clearing legacy tax liabilities while strengthening state revenues, Cheema said the window for availing the relief will close on March 31. He added that the government will move to strict recovery measures thereafter, with close to 8,000 properties already identified for action.
In a statement, the minister said the scheme has received strong participation, with 7,845 applications filed so far, resulting in collections of Rs 111.16 crore.

He highlighted robust response from key divisions including Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala and Ropar, noting that participation from these regions reflects increasing awareness about the financial benefits of the scheme.
Cheema urged all eligible taxpayers to come forward before the deadline and settle their pending dues, calling it a final opportunity to resolve VAT arrears and align with the state’s taxation framework before the scheme closes.
