Punjab cuts power tariff by Rs 3 per unit before Diwali

In a Diwali surprise for residents, Punjab has cut its power tariff by Rs 3, per unit.

Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi made the announcement in a press conference just after a cabinet meeting.

“We are reducing power tariff by ₹3 per unit for domestic consumers,” Channi said in Chandigarh.


He also added that it was a "big Diwali gift" for the people there. The Chief Minister said that the decision would be effective immediately.

According to a survey conducted by the Punjab government, Channi said, people wanted cheap but quality power.
