Protests in favour of hijab in Kolkata
"When we are willing to wear hijab, why are others objecting? Our hijab doesn't come in the way of our progress. We know how to fight for our rights," a protesting woman, Shabnam Khatun, told ET in Kolkata.

"When we are willing to wear hijab, why are others objecting? Our hijab doesn't come in the way of our progress. We know how to fight for our rights," a protesting woman, Shabnam Khatun, told ET in Kolkata.
She said Muslim women are progressing in every field, becoming engineers, pilots and going to police services. "Hijab is our identity and it cannot be bound by any educational institution. It is our identity and it does not come in the way of our education. A woman is being targeted but we will not back out. It is our right and we will urge the government that they support us in this. We will fight on the issue till our last breath," said Khatun.
"We will rather die but not stoop. We have been taught in our family to stand for our rights." she said, adding the Supreme Court should come forward and restore their rights.
