Protesters try to storm residences of Manipur Chief Minister, Home Minister
Guwahati: Fresh tension gripped Imphal on Wednesday as protesters tried to storm the residences of chief minister Y Khemchand Singh and home minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh, demanding their resignation over alleged security lapses that led to the killing of two minors in a bomb attack on their home. Two others were shot dead when a mob stormed a CRPF camp during a protest against the blast in Bishnupur district on Tuesday.

Despite a curfew in place, a large number of protesters gathered outside the CM's residence. Shanta Nahakpam, a senior member of the valley-based civil society group, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (CoCoMI), expressed dissatisfaction with the state government's handling of the situation. The CoCoMI leader said that authorities had informed the committee that three cadres of the United Kuki National Army (a Kuki armed group under the Suspension of Operations agreement) were arrested during a security operation.

Meanwhile, the CM chaired a unified command meeting on Wednesday to review the prevailing law and order situation in the state. "The government remains committed to taking all necessary steps to safeguard the lives and interests of the people and to uphold law and order across the state," he said.
