In Manipur valley, a protest was organised in different places demanding withdrawal of Suspension of Operations' (SoO) with Kuki militants and implementation of National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Internet services remain suspended for another five days in Manipur. Internet was suspended since May 3 and curfew was clamped in several districts.

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Sunday met Union Home minister Amit Shah. Talking to media persons in Imphal on Monday said efforts are being made to ensure militants who are under ‘Suspension of Operations' (SoO), return to their designated camps. “Measures are being undertaken with the supervision of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to make the SoO groups return to their camps and strengthen efforts to bring normalcy back to the state."

The Manipur government has found involvement of militant outfits in igniting the violence in Manipur. Most of the militant outfits of the state have their bases in Myanmar. Last month for alleged role in inciting violence, Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, and apprised him about the 'ground situation' and 'adverse activities' of three outfits -- the Kuki National Army (KNA), Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) and Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA). The Manipur government decided to withdraw from SoO and a tripartite agreement with three insurgent groups on March 10 was in accordance with its assessment that these outfits are supporting the influx of Myanmarese immigrants from across the border, encouraging illegal poppy cultivation and the drug trade.

Meanwhile a Security and Co-ordination meet was conducted at 1st Manipur Rifles, attended by Senior Officers of all Central and State Forces deployed in Imphal city.

Senior officers of the Army, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF and RAF attended the meeting. Assam Rifles steered the conduct of the meeting and deliberated upon the measures to be undertaken in event of future contingencies. The participants also discussed steps to synergize the efforts of all security forces to maintain peace & harmony in Imphal city.
