Protest in Tripura over recruitment in Tripura State Rifles, BJP offices ransacked

Several candidates whose names did not figure in the list attacked the office of ruling BJP. BJP offices were ransacked in several areas of the Gomati and South Tripura districts.

Tripura police headquarters on Monday published the names of the 1,443 selected candidates including 138 women for the posts of Riflemen and Riflemen (tradesmen) to raise two new battalions of the TSR under the Indian Reserve (IR) battalion category.
Protest broke out in Tripura following the announcement of a list of selected names in the recruitment of Tripura State Rifles (TSR).

Several candidates whose names did not figure in the list attacked the office of ruling BJP. BJP offices were ransacked in several areas of the Gomati and South Tripura districts.

The Tripura police headquarters on Monday published the names of the 1,443 selected candidates including 138 women for the posts of Riflemen and Riflemen (tradesmen) to raise two new battalions of the TSR under the Indian Reserve (IR) battalion category.


Tripura currently has 12 battalions of TSR. It was raised in March 1984 and is trained to deal with insurgency.
